Shatters! Crackles! && Blasted! Oh My! (updated)
I now own OPI's black, white, navy blue, and silver shatters. I have China Glaze's purple, pink, white, and baby blue shatters. I blogged about them in previous posts. I just purchased Gold Blasted by Sephora by OPI. Personally, I don't have a favorite brand. I believe they are have a similar formula. They all dry very fast, so you must close the cap on them between polishing your fingers. They all will thicken up probably before you are even halfway through the bottle. Use a polish thinner. I purchased mine from Sally's Beauty Supply. I believe it was $3 or $4. Use NO MORE than 3 drops in the polish and roll it well between your hands. They should revive your polish. You can do this with any of your polishes : )
**Important tips** When using the silver shatter, use 2 thin coats!!! It will apply better, and shatter correctly. And, when wiping the access polish from your brush, try to do inside the bottle to lessen the gunk that builds up in the top of the bottle.
Before removing my Mermaid Tears I decided to try out my new shatters. The top coat is Seche Vite.
What does P. Diddy and I have in common???
Sunglasses are the best accessory of any season, but especially the summer. Raybans are still popular with the wafer style. I honestly didn't think they were going to be around this long. Aviators are a personal fav of mine. They look good on just about anyone. Amber Rose is queen when it comes to looking great in a pair of sunglasses. She's a badd bish!
Miami Style Post
Me (the left) and my friend Kathryne went out one night in Miami showing off our personal style. She described her look as Amazon Princess. To achieve this look style your hair naturally, and not in a real "style". A dark lip also gave this look more mystery. As always, the jewelry can make or break your outfit. Carol's Daughter has great products for naturally curly hair, which I recommended her to purchase from Sephora earlier that day.
My look was more Native American Princess. I took two twists and pinned to the back. I wet my hair earlier that day swimming, and while they were drying I put them in two braids to create soft waves. I didn't use much makeup, but heavy mascara to give attention to my eyes. A nude lipgloss, with some shimmer, is great for a natural face. I personally think we looked really cute!

How to remove pesky polishes...
I am a huge fan of glitter polishes (Teenage Dream and Bring on the Bling from OPI's Burlesque Collection are my favorites), but they are a pain to remove. The glitter is either all over your fingers or stuck to nail causing you to scrape it off. So I came across a couple of tips.
1. Use acetone (but it's still kind of difficult to remove)
2. Right before removing polish on a top coat, the glitter should adhere to the top coat making it easier, I haven't tried this yet.
3. The best method....the foil method! It makes you look like a creature from outter space, but it works. You put nail polish remover on a cotton ball (I used pure acetone) and set it on your nail. Next, you take a strip of foil (that you already pre-cut) and wrap around the cotton ball. I do all fingers on one hand before moving on to the next. You can leave it on for about three minutes, then you move the cotton ball around to get any traces of polish. And voila! The polish is all gone!
Manicurist of Seville
I decided to get a manicure today, because my cuticles were looking a little rough. I bought with me OPI's Manicurist of Seville (from the Espana Collection I believe). Its raspberry, and very shiny almost like a sorbet or jelly. Its very pretty in the sunlight. In the bottle, the color is a little dustier, but not on the nail. The problem with reds for me is that they seem to darken a few shades after a while. Or maybe its just me.
Do You Lilac It?
I seen a swatch of OPI's Do You Lilac, and immediately knew I had to have it. Purple nail polishes are my favorite and this was not exception. Its a bright, soft purple and looks beautiful. I'm def going to wear this this spring and summer!
The photo is very true to the color!

OPI Shatter
Yayyy I finally got my nails to shatter properly. When I first tried my shatter they were not spreading as much as I like, and I finally figured out a solution. You are usually not supposed to shake bottles or nail polish, but roll them between your palms. Well with the shatter you need to shake the bottle. Sometimes after you paint a few fingers, shake the bottle a few more times. Also, use a generous amount of polish. Not enough so polish is dripping everywhere though. Hard to explain, but just dip the brush in the bottle and just wipe the side of the brush you're not using against the top of the bottle when you're pulling it out.
I used my black shatter over one of my new favorites...Teenage Dream!

Deja's Polish Pick
I am my child's mother. When I was sitting my bed the other day, she sat next to me, pulled out this nail file and started filing all her little nails right over my pillow. Gotta love her! So on to her polish pick. Deja chose Shower Together by China Glaze and the Gold Sparkle top coat from Sephora by OPI. My daughter is a glitter hag! Lol and here's her little toesies!
Sally Hansen Stick on Nail Polish
So I FINALLY got around to trying these! I bought them from Ulta for about nine dollars. I bought the houndstooth design. They also come in faux lace, denim, flowers, other animal prints, other cool designs, and neon solid colors. They are actually really easy to put on. It comes with 16 peel off polishes, a wooden stick, and a buffer. First, you push back your cuticles with the small wooden stick, then go over with remover to clean off any access dirt. Then you size up your nails with the peel offs, and you're ready to go! You peel them off, then stick on your nail just a teeny tiny bit above the cuticle. If its over your cuticle it will stick up a little. You then gently lay them over your nail, try to avoid air bubbles or creases. The edge then should hang over your real nail, and you can just file that off in a vertical motion. It took me about fifteen minutes total (while being distracted watching Glee).
I believe the box says they can last a week. On me that didn't happen. I put them on Monday, and its Wednesday and I'm taking them off. They started chipping really bad at the ends...and I hate chipped nails, so they have to go! But they do not peel off, once they're on, they're on. They come in pretty designs and I received lots of compliments. I would only get them again for a special occasion. Since they are made of real nail polish they come off with just nail polish remover.
I have pics of the day I put them on (first) and today, to show the slight chipping after two days. And I did scratch my hair when washing it, but when doing the dishes and cleaning I wore gloves (as always to try and keep my polish looking freshly applied).

Suzi Says Da!
Today I painted my nails with OPI's Suzi Says Da! Its a dark brown with a red base. I love brown polishes and wanted to rock it before the spring. Its also a color you can wear on your toes that will go with almost anything. I love that its a really dark brown, but not too dark that it looks black.
China Glaze Crackle Glaze
So I just used two of my new Crackle Glazes for the first time, and...... I hate them. The purple, Fault Line, looks like polish when first on the nail. The purple just slightly crackles in only a few places. The white, Lightening Bolt, didn't crackle right the first time. I think my coat was too thin.I tried it again on my other hand and it turned out much better. My only complaint it that it looks kind of sheer. They are both without a top coat. I'm going to try again to see if I get any better results.

A few posts in one
Enough of my whining.... so here's a pic and a few reviews....
1. I love Love LOVE my new headband. I found it at Sally's in the clearance section for $3.99. It's one of the stretchy, elastic ones that go around the entire head.
2. My nails: Black Onyx and Bring on the Bling (from the Burlesque Collection) on the tips (both by OPI). I love it. The gold tips makes it a little more glam and a little less gothic.
3. My lashes: I give them three snaps up! With only one coat they looked amazing, but of course I piled it on. Today I used Makeup Forever's Smoky Lash. I think I will add this to my list of favorites. You can get this at Sephora. This will be perfect for dramatic looks, and of course a smoky eye.

Will you be my valentine???
Yesterday was Valentines day (yay if your taken, boo if your single), and so I wanted to do a pink lip. I'm usually not a fan of colour on MY lips, but I'm getting my feet wet in it. So for my look, I had a side ponytail, light eye makeup with black liner, and pink lipstick from Maybelline I snatched from Target.
I took this pic in the parking lot before I went in the doctors. I looked at the photo and felt hideous : / Just one of those days when I felt ugly and not put together. So I went into the doctors office and checked in. As I was registering, the lady said, "I'm sorry for staring at you, but you're absolutely gorgeous!" MADE.MY.DAY. <3
And got lots of compliments on my nails... that was better than the half a box of chocolates I ate today :)
Sparkle Shoes!
Glitter and sparkle shoes are in! At first I was a little skeptical, but I bought a pair and in love. I love that I don't leave a trail of glitter as I walk about the house, and the sparkles are vivid. I got mine from Bakers for about $80. I love the platform, extra plus since I'm a shorty! Grab a pair before summer!
Aint Nothin Like The Real Thing...
So a while ago online, I was reading raves about OPI's My Private Jet, and being the collector I am I ordered it. I was so excited! When I finally got the bottle of polish I was sooo disappointed! I was thinking: so people are so excited about this brownish, grey colour with sparkles??? Ew! Then after some research, I found out that they discontinued the original colour. I also seen pics of it and it was gorgeous. I don't know why since people love it so much they changed the formula, and thought the new would do. Because it def doesn't! So tonight I created my own My Private Jet dupe, and the instructions are as follows:
For a base I used OPIs Ridge Filler
One coat of OPI Black Onyx
Two coats of the newer My Private Jet
Two coats of Northerns Lights (by OutTheDoor, from Sallys)
And a top coat
Its def not the original, but its pretty decent. It has the same sparkle, but the holo effect that everyone loved. As usual in life, there's nothing like the real thing!

How I feel about eyebrows...
But here is one of the products I DO use on my brows. It's a wax that comes in a pencil and it just holds your brows in place. Because that is another pet peeve of mine: when brows looks messy. This isn't heavy, it just holds the hair in place. I picked it up from Ulta, it's only a few bucks.
Hopefully you're not offended, I'm just trying to help. Because I see many girls doing it and I don't know how to say you look like a drag queen nicely, but if that's the look you're going for...do you boo!
Grey or Gray...?
I bought Break A Leg Warmer and paired it with Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees on one hand & Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous on the other.
Here's swatches of the Urban Ballerina Collection:
Here's pics of my manicure:

Spilled Nail Polish....???
For some reason I was just reminded of the horrific memory when I dropped a bottle of RED nail polish, and it broke! There was red polish everywhere! I couldn't believe out of all the times I dropped a bottle of nail polish in the kitchen and on hardwood floor, and it decides to bust on the carpet. But I was able to clean it without a hint of polish left! So here's what I did: First, I sprayed the area with hair spray. I used John Frieda, but I'm sure any brand works. Then I sprayed the area with Windex and go to scrubbing. Keep spraying and scrubbing with Windex until gone. DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER!
Just a tip in case this happens to you...!

Meet Telly
So this is my first fashion post... well kind of! Since I can blog online I looked through my phone for anything interesting to download, and I found Telly! Telly is what I named my ring, that's a mini elephant. A great new fashion item is jewelry that look like animals. I picked up my ring for Aldo, in Houston Galleria mall. Aldo is great for accesories! They had many other animals, I bought a gator too (named Ally), but he passed (tarnished).
Blogger for Droid!
Yayyy so I just uploaded Blogger for my droid...super excited. Love love love the fact I can snap a pic on my phone, then instantly upload and blog! Maybe this will keep on track blogging!
Anyways, I've been thinking of creating a separate blog for personal thoughts...hmmmm.... pondering....
